One year ago, a team of Naval Architects and experts got together, and the idea was born to create a fresh water floating venue. After a consultation stage, first plans were drawn up and the fun began.

Piece-by-piece the metal frame started growing at the side of the dam and curious onlookers gathered in increasing numbers as the hulk grew bigger on a monthly basis. At first people probably thought it as an expensive way of building a house. It was only on the 23rd of March 2005 that they looked on in astonishment as this hulk slowly crawled it’s way to the water and took it’s first taste of the Vaal Dam. In one last surge it finally said good-bye to land and gracefully took it’s place as one of the largest fresh water boats in the Southern Hemisphere.

The work however was not finished and all the effort was now directed into making this craft into a luxurious venue.  A wheel house was added and on top of this a satellite tracking dish to ensure that even DSTV would follow it where it went.  Sophisticated automatic navigation instruments were added and at the heart of the boat a state of the art silent generator with 3 phase power supply was installed. To steer it’s way to majestic sunsets over the Vaal Dam, two powerful motors were added, assisted by satellite navigation.

The finishing now took the shape of an upper sun deck with louvered covering and a fully stocked bar as well as a fully enclosed lower deck with seating arrangements for up to 300 guests. A kitchen, 8 bathrooms, buffet station and 2 fully stocked mobile bars were added. To ensure it sounded as good as it went, a sound and video system was added, complemented with all the necessary conference equipment. This by no means suggests that it is all about business, as this boat also yearns for the chance to entertain it’s guests in style.

Finally, in August 2005 our floating venue saw the last touches added and now lies and waits with abated breath to start it’s journey and make history for you from the 1st of September 2005.

Can’t wait to see you there.
